          Sundown at Dawn

Sundown at Dawn begins in the northern Minnesota wilderness along the Canadian border, the largest stretch of unprotected border in the United States. While on a canoe trip, John Starr, an Iraq war vet is awakened at dawn by voices coming across the water. Suddenly, he is transported back to 2003 and his time in Iraq. Could it possibly be Arabic? After he dismisses the incident, he is ambushed and left for dead miles from home. He has nothing left to help him survive in the wilderness, but the clothes on his back, a few things in his pockets, his wits and his dog.

Why was he attacked? He realizes why his memories of Iraq came back so vividly. The voice he recognized was from his time in captivity during a mission. He flashes back to his parachute jump into Iraq as the leader of a Special Forces team, the running gun battles, sniper duels and the disastrous aftermath, He remembers the cruel Sheikh who bragged of his plans for America’s destruction. Starr survives torture and captivity, spending time recovering at Landstuhl Military Hospital in Germany, suffering from physical injuries, PTSD and survivor’s guilt. He eventually returns to his home in Minnesota, rekindles a torrid college love affair and begins to rebuild his life.

Now, a relaxing trip into the beautiful wilderness has brought the past back and he soon begins to unravel an insidious plot hatched to destroy the country. As Starr learns more, he realizes that the plans might very well succeed if they are not stopped and the chase is on. With time running out, Starr has to work fast. Once the plans are put into motion, they can’t be stopped. Both the CIA and the Mossad are drawn into the action, as events unfold at blinding speed.

A page turning thriller that combines the history of the beautiful north country with a harrowing and brilliantly conceived story that grabs you and won’t let go. An intense and vivid novel. A story of war, history and love. What woman would not want to be described as Maddy?...”

Finished reading! Actually, once I began, I could not stop until the end. It was that captivating. My sincere congratulations on your writing. It is both interesting and precise and in some particulars, beautifully described. I volunteer now to translate into Portuguese”…Major General Raul Cun’ha…Head of Portuguese Special Forces, UN Military Chief in Sarajevo, Military Attache’ to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, and Nato Commander in Afghanistan.

Exciting new thriller that captures the latest in intrigue and addresses all our fears as to terrorism in the USA. His exacting approach to all matters makes the story believable and accurate. I can’t wait to see the movie version as well as read the sequel.”

Reminded me of Jack Reacher from the Lee Child books. The book was inventive, informative and the descriptions are spot on. The action chapters (the best part of the book, I wanted more) reminded me of Steve Berry. It was really a good introduction to a new series. I can’t wait for the next book,”
